The first series of photographs are plates which were a collaborative project through Emily Carr University. I worked with five other students to design a functional flatwear series for the opening of the Art of Food Exhibition at the Sand Bar restaurant on Granville Island (also see installation section). The repeating form and undulating pattern references the constant shift of the oceans waves. The idea of minimal pattern repeated in multiples has influenced my work for functional patterning ever since.
The second series of photographs is an example of my interpretation of the idea of a fly in my soup. These large molded porcelain soup bowls have a platinum lustre decal of a housefly engraved on the inside of the bowl. As one consumes the liquid the fly is revealed.
