This was my first series of plates designed for mass production. The images are appropriated from the pinup calendars and muscle magazines of the forties and fifties. I found the cute expressions and sexual nature of the imagery pregnant with the potential for mass appeal. As I got better at the application technique I incorporated additional details such as pencil thin gold lustering around the patterning on the cowgirls boots and I gave the Beef cake a silver loincloth.
